Here are some examples of problems when shampooing hair:

Your shampoo doesn’t lather easily
You use more shampoo to compensate for lack of lather
Your hair is not rinsed properly
Not enough rinsing means there is a build-up of shampoo in your hair
This build-up means that hair treatments do not work properly

If this vicious cycle continues, it can impact on the health of your hair and scalp and cause damage to your hair. If your hair loses its strength and becomes weak, you will have difficulty creating your favourite hairstyle, dyed hair will fade more quickly and permed hair will not hold for as long as it should. Just a slight change to your method of shampooing at home each day can make your hair easier to manage.

Before shampooing, rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Use shampoo sparingly and lather it before applying directly to your scalp.

The main purpose of shampoo is to remove excess oil from your scalp. If there is hair product in your hair, this will cancel out the effect of the shampoo. Once the hair product has been washed out, you should shampoo your hair one more time.

When shampooing do not rub the shampoo into your hair, but massage it into your scalp.
Rinse thoroughly after shampooing.
Conditioners, treatments and hair masks should be applied to the hair only, not to the scalp.

There are many different hair types, but if you follow these rules for shampooing at home, your hair will become easy to manage. With haircare, perhaps even more than with skincare, proper treatment brings great results.
