like all my beauty ed friends, I am now a zealous Zoltan convert
By Rosie Green
What is Zoltan’s Brazilian blow dry?
A treatment that promises to transform course, damaged or frizz prone hair into a silkier, smoother, healthier looking version of itself. It makes hair, if not weather proof, then at least weather resistant. It should also make blow-drying easier and deliver better end results.
Who Is Zoltan?
Nicknamed ‘king of the Brazilians’ Zoltan is a Hungarian hairdresser with a loyal following amongst top beauty editors
After 12 years devoted to hair retexturising he is able to customise the treatment to your hair type, length and condition and so deliver your desired look (full, sleek etc). He is also about the friendliest, passionate and most charming hairdresser you could meet.
What happens?
Zoltan first uses a high PH shampoo to soften your cuticles and then applies the smoothing solution (with a regulation compliant low percentage of Formaldehyde). After this, you sit with an inflatable cap on your head whilst heat streams in the active ingredients.
There is an odour, but it is not unpleasant. Zoltan then roughdries your hair before using a straightener to seal the product in. For really thick hair he will then blow-dry hair too. You leave with hair that feels a little too straight (think Avril Lavigne circa Sk8ter Boi).
I was advised not to wash it for two days (which is a little dispiriting) but Zoltan now offers a treatment that can be washed out the same day.
Does it work?
My first blow dry post Brazilian was a revelation. My hair, which always took a sweaty 25 minutes to dry, now takes more like 10-15. Not only that, when I slaved over it before it still looked a little fried, fluffy, puffy and frizzy.
Now it looks sleeker, smoother, shinier, healthier and just plain better. And it wasn’t too flat (which was my main concern). It is not a total miracle (must manage expectations here) – I still don’t wash and go – but, like all my beauty ed friends, I am now a zealous Zoltan convert. The treatment lasts an average of a couple of hours and lasts for around three months depending on hair type and aftercare.
